Christopher J. Smith, Esquire, received his B.A., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA. He received his law decree (J.D.) from the University of Baltimore School of Law where he was involved in the Family Law Clinic.
Following prior family law associations with the Law Offices of Franklin R. Blatt, in Harrisonburg, VA, and with Jones & Green, LLP, in Charlottesville, Mr. Smith founded the Law Offices of Christopher J. Smith, PLC to provide family law legal services to clients in the Central Virginia area.
Mr. Smith’s practice concentrates in all areas of family law. Special interests include high net worth complex contested divorces, custody relocation & jurisdiction cases, and those involving modification of spousal support.
He is a past co-chair of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association’s Family Law Section, and has served as an expert witness in Circuit Court. He has successfully represented clients in appellate proceedings in both the Court of Appeals of Virginia and in the Supreme Court of Virginia. He regularly follows developments in Virginia family law and has given family law continuing legal education presentations to the local Bar Association’s Family Law Section.
A licensed Virginia attorney since Fall 1994, he is a member of the Virginia State Bar, VSB Family Law Section, Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association, and CABA’s Family Law Section. Mr. Smith is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
